PIPEDA VS. CPPA
The Canadian Parliament is currently working on modernizing the federal privacy law currently in place, Canada’s “Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act” (PIPEDA). This is the second time the Government has introduced a bill with this purpose. The first attempt, Bill C-11, died on the order paper as the result of the federal election in 2021.
The new bill, Bill C-27, contains three parts, one of which is intended to replace Part 1 of PIPEDA. The proposed act is titled the Consumer Privacy Protection Act (CPPA).
